Lighting Column Inspection

As part of a lighting refurbishment Scheme, Clayton Lighting & traffic were commissioned to undertake a programme of mapping the lighting assets in Battersea Park and plotting their positions accurately, followed by structurally testing.

During the inspection it was found that the inventory consisted of a mix of ornate cast iron columns and newer steel columns with embellishment kits. A number of columns were found to have severe structural defects, including complete failure of the weld at the swage point.

Clayton Lighting & Traffic provided our client with an accurate plan, showing column positions, supply point and cable routes and a full structural condition report, in line with ILP GN22 Guidance, which was subsequently used in preparation of the refurbishment project.
